Luis Macas of the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities in Ecuador and Matthew Coon Come of the Cree received the Goldman foundation Environmental Award grant. Macas’ acceptance speech pointed to the need for environmental protection against exploitation and extraction at the hands of non-native people.
